Baby its cold outside…. Yup – this time of year rolls around, leaves have fallen, all the raking is done, looking for your snowbrush for your car, digging your shovel out of the back of the garage – and we STILL have to put up vinyl to brand your space!! Inside or out, you can still brand your space, with a couple considerations from you, and a little ingenuity from us!!   There are some physical limitations we simply cannot get around – you cannot apply a window perf graphic if the ambient temperature is less than 10 degrees C, without introducing the possibility of product failure. The adhesive used in this product just doesn’t function at lower temps. It may work – we go to every effort to try to make that happen, but it is susceptible to failure. But, as we all know, stick around for a while, the weather is going to change – just be patient, we’ll get your branding done for you!! Look at this awesome install we did at Harbourfront early this month – just before the weather turned… The solid vinyl we use for walls doesn’t fall into that same category. As a matter of fact, there are specific vinyls that have adhesive applied to them in the manufacturing process that is intended for cold weather application. That said, however, the very nature of a piece of vinyl subjected to cold temps, and it becomes very non-pliable – as a matter of fact, it becomes downright brittle!! Below 0 degrees C and we do whatever we can to re-schedule that install for another day because although we are not concerned about the adhesive activating, the vinyl is so difficult to work with it becomes very problematic to achieve the seamless kinds of line ups we try so hard to achieve with every install. We do break out the heat guns from time to time though – not only to make the vinyl supple, but sometimes we need to warm up our hands too!! This install was at Harbourfront in the middle of November!! Take it inside – it’s still real nice in here!!! Recently we were tasked with making The Billy Bishop Airport look even more awesome that’s it already does with some great graphics and amazing imagery, under the ever watchful creative eye of the team at BLACK Digital Media. Take that plain ol brick wall, splash a graphic up on it and it’ll look great. BUT – take the time – heat and roll every square inch of that same graphic and it looks STUNNING, with a vinyl that is specifically manufactured for this purpose – it’s a little softer, it can only be used inside, but what an amazing result. But hang on – we need to do it in the middle of the night when there are no flights? No problem! See for yourself!
